The 100th Anniversary of Meher Baba’s Table House
The year 1925 was a “big” one for Meher Baba, according to scholar Jamie Newell. Not only did Baba begin His silence in the small cabin known as the Jhopdi at Lower Meherabad, but He also had the Table House built and the Dhuni fire lit for the first time. In addition, that’s the year Baba began writing His “mysterious book.” In this detailed talk, Jamie gives the history not only of the Table House, but also of the Dhuni and the Jhopdi. Jamie contends the three sites at Lower Meherabad form a kind of a “triangle of work tied to Baba’s silence and to his mysterious book.” Moving between the historical facts and Jamie’s own reflections, the talk gives a glimpse of what it must have been like to be with Baba during that momentous year.
