After Meher Baba released Bal Natu from the New Life in October of 1949, He also gave him a task. Bal was to find a man who was keeping silence and who had also been ordered by Baba to beg for his food, among other things. After six months, this man was supposed to report to Baba. But by the time the six months would be over, the New Life would have already begun. So Bal was charged with finding this man and telling him not to report to Baba after all. Bal, of course agreed, but he didn’t know where the man was, except somewhere near Rishikesh. Bal also had to get back the job he had just quit. It’s a marvelous tale about determination, trust, and doing one’s best, despite more than once inadvertently upsetting Baba.
