Artist in Residence : Beverly Smith
June 9th – June 14th, 2026
Beverly grew up in Menlo Park, California where she and a group of friends came to know of Meher Baba as teenagers. She considers herself indescribably fortunate to have fallen into His net so young and to have met fellow travelers that are lifelong friends.
A few years before hearing Baba’s name she fell in love with the music of the southern Appalachians and, as Baba would have it, these two pursuits of God and music, became the framework of her life. In 1977, she took her fiddle overland to India and performed for the remaining mandali.
She has performed all over the world but no where sweeter than Mandali Hall and the Meher Center in Myrtle Beach, where she initiated the New Years Eve square dance in 1988 and called for nearly 30 years. She now, by Baba’s grace, spends winters in Meherabad, but the square dance continues each year at New Years and at the Youth Sahavas.
