“Meher Baba, Science and Technology” Presentation by Rich Blum, Meeting Place

Meher Baba explained that the Avatar’s life and message are adjusted for the time and culture in which He manifests. One of the most distinguishing aspects of Baba’s advent was the tremendous advancement of science and technology.
Baba didn’t negate science; rather, He extended it with spiritual understanding. He presented a vision of God compatible with the modern mindset. He said that science and spirituality must proceed hand in hand. In His teachings, He utilized concepts from evolution, psychology, and physics and then reoriented them with deeper spiritual explanations.
Baba did not refrain from using modern technologies either, He embraced and utilized them for His work. He was the first Avatar since the invention of the printing press, allowing His messages to be published during His lifetime. He used modern means of transportation to travel extensively throughout India and the world. Dozens of films and thousands of photos were taken of Him. His use of technology has left posterity with a detailed accounting of His life and teachings, far beyond that of previous Avatars.
After Baba dropped His body, science and technology have undergone exponential and multifaceted growth. How might Baba’s work of reorienting science continue? And, technological advancements like Artificial Intelligence offers some clear advantages but also some potential dangers. How might Baba use AI for His work for humanity?
