“Baba gave me an after dinner mint”
Charles Joyner was an accomplished and well known historian and author from Myrtle Beach. Being from the area, Charles became acquainted with Elizabeth Patterson in the 1950s through the Methodist Church (where Elizabeth was a pillar) and through the Myrtle Beach Farms Company where Charles held a summer job. He was struck by Elizabeth’s spiritual presence and later by Kitty Davy’s formidable intellect. In 1956, Elizabeth Patterson invited Charles and his co-workers to see Baba. Here, Charles talks about his meeting with Baba and his continued connection with the Center.
