Poems of St. John of the Cross as Scripts for Manonash A Presentation by Christopher Wilson

In this beautiful presentation, Christopher Wilson shines the spotlight on St. John of the Cross who worked with St. Teresa of Avila. We see the life, work and times of St. John and examine his great works such as “The Dark Night of the Soul,” read here in English and native Spanish. Drawing parallels between these writings and the teachings of Baba, Christopher brings us to the heart of the eternal condition of longing where the lover not only seeks union but complete annihilation of self to finally achieve that union.

“How very man You are, how absolutely God.”

In this moving audio, Francis Brabazon reads the last three cantos from his poem “The Word at World’s End.” The title alludes to William Morris’ work, “The Well at World’s End,” according to Ross Keating. The book is a departure in style from “Stay with God” and shows Francis as a modern poet open to new forms of writing and experimentation.

The whole work was written while Francis was living at Meherazad during the 1960s and read in its entirety to Baba.

In a letter to Joan Le Page (27/11/64) Francis writes, “No doubt you will be happy to hear that a new book of mine is being read to beloved Baba every morning. It has a very grand title, Song at World’s End [working title at the time] and is all about the miserable condition of the present world. But beloved Baba seems to be enjoying it, for He gives big “grins” and “chuckles” during the reading. Strange sort of humour this Man has! Must be because He is God as well as Man” (taken from The Bill LePage Archives).

“Baba suffered without a word spoken.”

In this confident and often witty talk, Meher Baba’s close disciple Dr. Hoshang Bharucha shares his “intellectual interpretation” of why he believes Baba has not yet broken His Silence. He draws on the six points Baba dictated in His 1954 Final Declaration, including how three-quarters of the world would be destroyed. He concludes the most important thing, regardless of what happens, is to love Baba and hold onto Baba’s daaman.  He also shares what it was like to be close to Baba as He endured His suffering.

“I never realized He wasn’t talking, He was so animated, there was so much love.”

In this heartfelt panel discussion, Vinod Khilnani, Wendy Connor and Irwin Luck share their thoughts about Baba’s silence. All three were lucky enough to have met Baba and experience His silence firsthand. They talk about Baba’s complete naturalness, His ability to communicate volumes with a few simple gestures, and the importance of cultivating His voice within. Daniel Stone thoughtfully moderates.

From an unimaginable explosion to a reawakening of religions to a worldwide recognition of His divinity, Aloba says it will be Meher Baba’s “greatest miracle.”

“We felt we were participating in Baba’s work in some un-understood way…”

Darwin Shaw shares stories about keeping silence under Baba’s direct orders on July 10, as well as for other longer periods. He shares humorous episodes about navigating the world while not speaking and the inevitable mishaps when words just popped out despite all of the best intentions. He also talks about following other orders, like fasting for long periods, and the challenges they presented. As for the benefits of such practices, Darwin’s conclusion might be surprising!
