“Elizabeth and Kitty were like our matriarchs, godmothers to all”
In this charming and thoughtful talk, Janet Files recounts her journey from a “Leave it to Beaver” childhood to a life with Meher Baba. Noting that a “restlessness” prompted her to travel overseas as a young woman, she never quite found what she was looking for. She eventually heard about Meher Baba and landed at Dilruba where “This lovely woman meets me at the door, it’s Kitty Davy.” Rich with tidbits about the history of the Center in the early 1970s, her story is not to be missed!

“It’s as if some other eye was open…. I just suddenly understood so much.”
Susan Herr shares parts of her remarkable life from her friendship with author Henry Miller to waking up in Mehera’s arms during the Great Darshan. Susan had no interest in a spiritual life as a young woman, and then ended up close friends with Filis Frederick, whom she initially thought was “completely crazy.” Filis soon introduced her to Allan Cohen and Rick Chapman. Upon meeting them, Susan felt “as if I had known them all my life.” They became good friends but to Susan they had “a fatal flaw: They were followers just of some weirdo in India.” Soon afterward, she had a powerful dream. When she woke up, “I knew that Baba was God.”

An Exploration of Norina Matchabelli’s Mystical Articles
In this insightful talk, Scott Makeig explores Meher Baba’s message that He has “not come to teach, but to Awaken” through Princess Norina Matchabelli’s mystical articles. Opening with a short biography of Norina, Scott then delves into the history of the Meher Baba Journals in which nineteen of Norina’s mystical articles were published between 1938 and 1942. “These articles are unique in that Baba specifically instructed the Journal editors to publish them just as contributed by Norina, assuring them that they would come to be appreciated ‘in future,’” Scott writes. These unusual articles, Scott argues, “compliment” Meher Baba’s “other descriptions of the great awakening” that Baba worked to prepare and manifest.

The Theme of Creation; An Exploration of Meher Baba’s GOD Speaks
In this accessible and comprehensive primer on God Speaks, filmmaker Tim Thelen explores the theme of creation through the lens of Meher Baba’s spiritual masterpiece. He follows “the journey of the soul from its unconscious origin through to human form and on to God-Realization.” He deftly incorporates Darwin’s theory of evolution with Baba’s correction that it is consciousness that drives evolution, not the other way around. The book’s ideas are explored through an array of interviews from a diverse cast of followers of Meher Baba, including Adele Wolkin, Phyllis Ott, Robert Dreyfuss, Carl Ernst, and Charmian Duce Knowles. Originally produced in 2005, this version was remastered in 2022.
