“Intuition is the way I connect with Baba”
In this charming talk, Hugh Flick shares how he came to “his spiritual awakening.” Even though he was at Harvard around the same time as Rick Chapman, Allan Cohen and other early Baba lovers, he didn’t cross paths with them. Hugh heard about Baba from his brother Bart. And it was some years later when he started going to Darwin Shaw’s meetings regularly that he began what he calls “his awakened life” with Baba. “Darwin’s meetings were incredibly powerful spiritual experiences,” he says. There Hugh learned the importance of “dressing your soul with Baba” and keeping him as “my constant companion.”

Celebrating a Sacred Legacy
This uplifting evening is a celebration of the early spirituals that emerged from slave communities as well as a tribute to Happy Club, its founders and the Phoenix Renaissance Community that emerged from it. During His visit in 1958, Meher Baba asked to hear a recording of Marian Anderson singing ‘He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands’ as well as ‘Let My People Go.’ In the late 1980s, Cathy Riley collected 120 songs from Sumter County African American seniors. This concert is a commemoration of those powerful songs. Spirituals were also a part of the Happy Club legacy. After it was established in the late 1960s, Reverend Lee, his wife and their 10 children would come sing Gullah songs for and with the Happy Club kids, at Thanksgiving time and sometimes at Christmas time, too.

“Each little thing orchestrated by Baba was a step closer to Him”
Damien Triouleyre grew up around family and community who loved God. He first read about Meher Baba in a jail cell after being given a copy of Listen Humanity by one of the prison guards. From that moment on, Baba drew Damien in, introducing him to some of His dear lovers, and eventually bringing him to Meherabad in the late 1980’s. With charisma and love, Damien shares stories of the mandali and his own inner relationship with the Avatar of the Age.

“She nourishes the soul with deep delight”
During this laughter filled evening, Sheila Krynski shares many delightful vignettes about Kitty Davy, one of Meher Baba’s earliest Western disciples. Sheila first met Kitty in 1968 and ended up moving to Myrtle Beach, in part, because of her. Sheila’s stories range from short, seemingly simple (sometimes silly) anecdotes to exquisitely crafted short stories. Each one exemplifies how Kitty “brought everyone in her contact… closer to Baba.”
